Why I Love This Toast
This is my favorite quick lunch. It feels fancy but is so simple. I love the crunch of the seeds. The creamy avocado is perfect with a warm egg. Doesn’t that sound good?
I make it when my grandkids visit. They think I’m a kitchen wizard! I still laugh at that. The best part is the everything seasoning. You mix it once and use it for weeks. This matters because good food should make you happy, not tired.
The Magic of Everything Seasoning
Let’s talk about that seasoning. It’s just seeds and spices. But together, they sing! The poppy and sesame seeds give a tiny crunch. The garlic and onion add a cozy flavor.
*Fun fact*: The “everything” bagel trend started in New York. Now we put it on everything! I love using my extra mix on a simple summer salad. What would you sprinkle it on? Tell me your idea.
A Little Story About Avocados
I didn’t always eat avocados. I thought they were strange! Then my friend Maria made me try one. It was so rich and smooth. Now I can’t imagine my kitchen without them.
That’s why this matters. Trying new foods opens a world of flavor. Avocados are great in so many things. I adore them in a grilled peach salad. Do you have a food you were scared to try but now love?
Getting the Egg Just Right
The egg is the crown on this toast. I fry mine sunny-side up. The runny yolk is like a sauce. It mixes with the avocado so nicely. Use a good non-stick pan. It makes life easier.
Butter the bread before toasting it in the pan. This gives a golden, buttery crunch. It’s a small step with a big reward. For another eggy treat, my shrimp salad avocado boats are fun. Do you prefer your eggs runny or cooked through?
Make It Your Own
This recipe is just a start. You are the boss of your toast! Add a slice of crispy bacon. Or some fresh tomato. Maybe a sprinkle of chili flakes for a kick.
That’s the joy of cooking. You can change things to suit your day. It turns a simple recipe into *your* recipe. For more avocado ideas, a spicy grilled chicken sandwich is wonderful. What will you add to your perfect avocado toast?
Instructions
Step 1: First, make your magic sprinkle. Mix all the seasoning bits in a little bowl. I love the smell of the sesame seeds. Doesn’t that smell amazing? You’ll have extra, which is wonderful. (Keep it in a jar by the stove for quick flavor.)
Step 2: Now, let’s butter-toast the bread. Use a skillet on medium heat. Lightly butter one side of each slice. Place them butter-side down. Listen for that gentle sizzle. Let them get golden and crisp.
Step 3: Time for the eggs. Add a tiny more butter to the pan. Crack your eggs right in. I still laugh at when I’d crack them too hard. Fry them just how you like. Sunny-side up or over easy? Share below!
Step 4: Smash that lovely avocado right onto the warm toast. Go heavy on it, I always do. Then, the grand finale! Sprinkle your seasoning mix generously. Top it all with your perfect egg. A creamy avocado and egg combo is always a win.
Creative Twists
Bacon Boost: Crumble some crispy bacon on top. It adds a salty, crunchy surprise. Try it with this bacon and avocado sandwich idea for another day.
Summer Salad Side: Serve it with a bright, crunchy salad. A spring salad with asparagus would be so fresh and lovely on the side.
Cheesy Delight: Add a slice of melty cheese under the egg. Haloumi or cheddar works beautifully. It reminds me of a crispy haloumi salad I adore. Which one would you try first? Comment below!
Serving & Pairing Ideas
For a light lunch, enjoy your toast all by itself. It’s perfectly complete. If you want more, add some juicy cherry tomatoes on the side. Their sweetness is so nice. For a heartier meal, pair it with a shrimp salad avocado boat. Which would you choose tonight?

Keeping Your Toast Tasty for Later
Let’s talk about storing this delicious meal. The seasoned avocado mash does not like the fridge. It turns brown quickly. I store the everything seasoning and mashed avocado separately. A little lemon juice on the avocado helps, too.
You can keep the dry seasoning mix in a jar for weeks. It’s perfect for a quick shrimp salad another day. I learned this the hard way. My first batch turned a sad color overnight. Now I know better!
Batch cooking the seasoning is a smart move. It saves you precious morning minutes. This matters because a calm start makes your whole day sweeter. Have you ever tried storing it this way? Share below!
Simple Fixes for Common Kitchen Hiccups
We all face little problems while cooking. First, your avocado is never ripe when you need it. Place it in a paper bag with a banana. It will ripen much faster. I remember waiting days for my first avocado to soften!
Second, the egg yolk breaks when you crack it. Crack it on a flat surface, not the bowl’s edge. This gives you a clean break. Third, your toast burns before the egg is done. Cook the egg first, then toast the bread in the same pan.
Fixing these small issues builds your confidence. It also makes your food taste better. Good technique brings out the best flavors. Try these tips with a crispy halloumi avocado salad. Which of these problems have you run into before?
Your Quick Questions, Answered
What is the best bread for avocado toast?
A thick, sturdy bread is best. Sourdough or a hearty whole grain works wonderfully. It holds the heavy avocado and egg without getting soggy. The crisp texture against the creamy avocado is perfect. Try toasting it well for that satisfying crunch. *Fun fact: Sourdough’s tangy flavor pairs beautifully with rich avocado.*
How do you make everything bagel seasoning at home?
It is very easy to make. Mix sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt. You can find the full amounts in the recipe above. Making it yourself lets you control the salt. You can also leave out a seed you do not like. Store it in a little jar.
Can you make avocado toast ahead of time?
You can prepare parts of it ahead. Mix your seasoning and store it. You can also hard-boil eggs for a different avocado egg dish. But mash the avocado fresh. Assemble your toast just before eating. This keeps the bread crisp and the avocado green and pretty.
What are some healthy toppings for avocado toast?
Try sliced radishes for a peppery crunch. A sprinkle of chili flakes adds nice heat. Some fresh pea shoots or microgreens are lovely, too. A squeeze of lemon juice boosts the flavor. These add color, texture, and vitamins without many calories.
How do you keep avocado toast from getting soggy?
Toast your bread until it is very crisp. Let the toast cool for a minute before adding avocado. Spread the mash on just before you eat it. If packing a lunch, keep the avocado separate in a small container. Assemble it when you are ready to enjoy.
What are some variations of classic avocado toast?
There are so many fun ways to change it up. Add crumbled bacon or feta cheese. Try it with a summer roasted corn salad on the side. Use a fried egg, or skip the egg for a vegan version. A drizzle of hot honey is also delicious. Which tip will you try first?

Quick Avocado Toast with Everything Spice
Description
Everything Seasoning Avocado Toast
Ingredients
Everything Seasoning:
Toast:
Instructions
- Mix together seasoning mix for everything seasoning and set aside. This will make more than you need for the toasts, but keep it! It goes great on many savory dishes.
- In a nonstick skillet, lightly butter your bread and place it in the skillet over medium heat. Let it get toasted on one side.
- Remove bread and add a little more butter (1-2 teaspoons). Then crack in eggs and fry either sunny-side up or over easy.
- Divide toast between plates and spread avocado on each. I like to use about 1/2 an avocado on each toast slice. Go heavy on it. Then top each toast with a generous sprinkling of everything seasoning and an egg. Enjoy!
